Long ago in a little Mexican town called Anahuac there lived an
Indian named Erakio, who was known for his superlative culinary
talents. Erakio so delighted the locals with his original and
delicious creations that his fame spread far and wide. He became
particularly well-known for his method of preparing sumptuous
tacos.
Erakio would marinate and spice strips of beef and pork, preparing
the strips in layers around an up-right spit. By layering the
strips from the bottom in heavier layers toward the upper end of
the spit, Erakio prepared to cook the meat in front of an open
flame by rotating the spit slowly. His method became known as "El
Trompo" or "The Top", because the shape of the spit of beef was
very similar to a large spinning top. It became fashionable to go
and have "Tacos |
with Erakio" who was referred to "Don"
Erakio (the word "Don" implying respect or admiration). Thusly,
introduced the original Tacos Al Carbon.
The Brothers Rodriguez have preserved the colorful and superior
method, of the original legend by bringing Doneraki from Monterrey
to Houston. And now you can enjoy "Don Erakio" as well as other
